The Barony of Nordskogen invites you to:

Much Ado about Twelfth Night

An Elizabethan themed event

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Central Middle School
900 49th Ave NE
Columbia Heights, MN 55421
Google map and local weather

When you think about Twelfth Night, perhaps the Shakespearean play comes to mind, which may then make you think about Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603) and then you might start to think about other things that are late period. We would like to encourage everyone to come show off their finest in late period garb for their persona at this year's Twelfth Night event.

$10 site fee, age 16 and under free
$3 non-member fee
Gate opens 9am, site closes 8pm

We invite you to bring in your own food and non-alcoholic beverages as there will not be a feast this year.

Please note that this is a school so the site will be bone dry, no alcohol allowed on premises, this includes the parking lot. Yes, even sealed alcohol intended for gift giving is not allowed. No exceptions!!!

There will a limited quantity free-will-donation Lunch available: hard boiled egg, small loaf of bread, wax wrapped individual cheeses, fruit.

As this will also be the 35th Anniversary of the Barony of Nordskogen we would ask the populace to bring in memorabilia to set up displays along the hallways to help celebrate and remember that being period is a journey, not a destination.

There will be a chocolate chip cookie sale at this event to help raise funds for the Kingdom of Northshield. Everything is better with cookies, so 'chip-in' to help out!

fundraiser flyer: here

There will be a food shelf donation box, please bring a non-perishable food item(s).

A Grand Soteltie Contest is announced for Twelfth Night in Nordskogen. Haus Waldfurster invites you to bring a Soteltie for all to admire and vote for. More details available: here

Greetings from the site ambiance facilitator for Nordskogen's 12th Night!

As it is the case with most winter events, 12th Night will be held in a modern school, which leaves little to the imagination in the way of decor. The residents of the Barony will be decorating with flakey heraldry and beautiful silk pennents and anyone is welcome to add their own items.

Please note that any banners brought will need their own method for display and will most likely be placed in the hallways. Banner stands or sticky hooks (such as Command from 3M) are perfectly acceptable.

Please be aware that there is limited space for populace so presences are discouraged. That being said there is plenty of space to sit and view the combat in the gym and sit and have lunch in the cafeteria so you should not need to bring your own chairs.

Please do your best to keep your modern items out of sight. A simple piece of fabric over a duffle bag/ plastic tote goes a long way.

While you are welcome to bring your own food to the site, we quickly run out of space when people start bringing in full size coolers. Considering the temps on Saturday most foods will be perfectly safe left in a vehicle. If you bring in food from a local establishment please consider transfering the items to more period containers, this is especially encouraged for beverages.

These are NOT rules, simply suggestions to help make this modern site a little more Medieval friendly.

Safe travels to those heading to Nordskogen this weekend.

Maestra Giovanna
